The Best Part

This weekend I posted about the adapting to having my husband home from the deployment.  But I failed to mention ALL the good of having him home.  Being that today marks one month that he has been home (and is also the day that the rest of his group is coming home), I thought I would share the many things I love about him beging home.

-It's so nice to come home after a long day at work and have someone waiting for me instead of just the dogs.
-I love seeing his face, his real face, not a video over the computer.
-We can talk on the phone, or in person, without a 5 second delay, or worse, a lost connection.
-Football season is WAY more fun when you get to watch games with someone.
-Movies are more fun when you have someone to watch them with.  Even if you don't get to pick the movie.
-Cooking for two is much more enjoyable than cooking for one.  It's a bummer when you cook something good and no one is there to taste it.
-There's someone else to take the dogs out.  And the trash out.
-I sleep so much better knowing that he is right beside me.
-I love his hugs.  The big hugs where he picks me up and pops my back.
-I love that he would skip out on Sunday football and watch The Backup Plan with me.  He must really love me!

The list could go on and on.  He's home.  He's safe.  He's with me.  How could I not be happy about everything?

3 Years

Today marks 3 years that Anthony and I have been together!  It also is the date that Anthony proposed to me 2 years ago.  I wish that we could spend the evening together and celebrate, but that's not really possible this year.  As a matter of fact, it's not even June 1st there any more.  He has become my best friend and my rock.  I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful man.  And while these 3 years have been full of so many changes, challenges, and time apart, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Here are a few pictures from the past three years.

Our first date.

Celebrating my 24th birthday together.

The most wonderful day!

The Glass is Half Full

Today I had to take the trash to the dumpster.  You're probably thinking, no big deal.  But this was Anthony's job.  I HATE taking the trash out.  I did that for many years when I was in college and before I met Anthony.  Now, Anthony takes it out 9 out of 10 times.  Well, he did.  Now I wil be taking it out 10 out of 10 times.  But I decided instead of dwelling on the things I will miss, I'm going to focus on the positive parts of him being gone.

1.  I don't have to cook.  I have enough food to last until I go to my parents.  I will be eating TV dinners and sandwiches.  And leftovers!
2.  I can sleep in the middle of the bed.  I would say that there's noone to snore, but Frankie (my shitzu) snores louder tahn Anthony.
3.  I have the bathroom all to myself while trying to get ready in the mornings.
4.  I can watch whatever I want on TV.  And no video games are being played.  The remote is all mine!  I can't wait for Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelorette tonight!
5.  There's noone to complain that I left the closet light on or I can't park my car correctly.
6.  There are no shoes in the floor to trip on when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'd rather cook every night, sleep on the edge of the bed and watch my husband play video games every night if it meant I had him home.  But, since I can't have him home, I'll look at the positives!

I'm So Lucky!

I want to begin by saying that I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful husband!

I'll start with our anniversary. We headed to Arlington right after he got home from work (8am). We enjoyed Houlihans and Chuys. I was a happy camper. We spent the time in between shopping. I love the fact that he enjoys shopping. When we got home, we ate the top of our wedding cake. Or maybe it was more like a tiny bite of our wedding cake. It was not very yummy!

We are not very traditional people, so we didn't do the traditional paper wedding gift. Anthony got me what we are going call an anniversary ring. It is a band that has one diamond in it. Each year, on our anniversary, he will add a diamond. This is extra specialy because it is something my dad did for my mom and Anthony wanted to do the same. I tried taking a picture, but you couldn't really see the details because of the glare. So I gave up. Anthony wanted to get a ring tattooed on his left ring finger, where his wedding band sits. He is not supposed to wear his ring while at work because of the dangers. I loved the idea of a tattoo. So, Friday night, we headed to the tattoo parlor (or whatever they are called these days) and this is what we came up with:
And two more reasons I'm lucky: 1) He came up to school yesterday and helped me put my new classroom furniture together. 2) He cooked some amazing fajitas for dinner last night!

Gotta Love Them

After posting my last post, I started thinking, I hope my readers don't get the wrong idea. I wasn't complaining or pointing out the negatives. I was just getting a laugh out of his quirks and wanted to share. I decided that maybe I should share some (of the many) things I love about my husband.

1. He cooks. And I'm not talking every now and then. If he's home, he almost always takes care of cooking the meat. And it tastes great!
2. He gives the most wonderful backrubs.
3. He includes me in his hobbies, but doesn't force me to join in.
4. He enjoys sitting at home with me and enjoying a movie, while his friends all hang out.
5. He joined the Air Force not for himself, but for me and our future family.

And don't worry, I realize that I'm not perfect...but like to think I'm pretty close. I know I have my quirks that drive him crazy.

1. I tend to wash random things that aren't meant to be washed in the washing machines because I never check his pockets, or belt loops.
2. I leave the toothpaste tube messy or squeeze from the middle. (this drives him crazy!)
3. I plan everything to the T. I plan out 2 weeks worth of meals before going shopping. If we are taking a trip, I plan everything weeks before. I know sometimes that he wishes I would just let things happen.

There...I exposed myself! Now it's your turn. What do you do that drives your husband/boyfriend crazy?

Men

So, as I adapting to living with a man, I'm learning more and more about him.

1. When he's hurt, say a pulled hamstring, you with think he's on his deathbed. He got into bed after playing softball and didn't move. He asked for food. He asked for a drink. He needed heat. He needed his thigh rubbed. I love him, and I love taking care of him, but I don't get this kind of treatment.
2. His clothes go wherever he takes them off. This morning there was one blouse, a t-shirt, a golf shirt, and a pair shorts on the couch. All belonging to him. And none of these came off in the heat of the moment. Yet, I love him, so I carry them up and put them in the hamper.
3. They always say, you will marry a man like your father. Well I did. I LOVE vegetables, especially asparagus which cheese. I haven't had this since spring (maybe) and decided to make it last night with steak. I thought it was great. Anthony ate one bite and said I poisoned him. He said it was like eating bamboo. So, I guess I won't be making that again. My father is the same way though. Mom can only cook a number of vegetables because he won't eat them.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him. I'm just getting adjusted to all of his little quirks, most of which I still find kind of cute.

What are quirky things your husbands do? Do these things bother you or just make you laugh?

The Things We Do For Love

Anthony loves golf. And I love Anthony. I do not, however, love golf. But I am trying, just because I know Anthony loves it. I have picked out the pink clubs I want, the pink bag I want and the pink golf shoes I want; however, I have to learn to play golf before I get all the fun stuff.

Two weeks ago, he took me with him to the driving range. It didn't go very well, I must say. Anthony thought it was funny, but that was about it. I might have pulled something in my shoulder too. We had fun though. Here are a few pictures from that trip.

This past weekend, we went back to the golf course. This time, I just drove the cart while he played. I think that was a better place for me. Maybe I'll try it again, I mean those shoes were really cute. And it'd be great to be able to play together.

What hobbies have you taken/tried taking up for you spouse/fiance/boyfriend?

Happy Birthday!!

Happy birthday, to my wonderful husband!
Anthony turns 24 today! He had already recieved part of his present a month ago, which was Sam. In addition to Sam, he ordered himself two golf clubs to complete his set. And, I surprised him with a shirt. Real exciting, I know. He was just like a little kid though, couldn't wait to open them this morning.
We've spent the day hanging out together. We watched Grand Torino in bed this morning. Then played some Mario Bros. on the Wii. After that, we went bowling (his favorite sport). He had to practice because tomorrow he's getting off work to go bowl in a tournament on base and he hasn't bowled in months. Tonight, we are going with some friends to eat at a Japanese Steakhouse in town.

I had planned to decorate the house for him (I LOVE celebrating birthdays) and cook him breakfast for when he got home from work this morning, but he got off work early! He showed up last night around 7! I was super excited about that, since we only get to sleep in together 2 days every 2 weeks. But, my plan was kind of ruined. I sent him to the golf store with his birthday money from my parents so now I can decorate!
(This is a picture from basic graduation...you can tell my the haircut.)

Happy Birthday, Anthony! I love you!
