What I'm Up To

With Anthony's job, I spend one day a weekend at home by myself every weekend.  At first, this was hard, but I've grown to love my WHOLE day to myself.

So far today, I've...
-Got new fall scented Bath and Body Works plugins.  And a "Leaves" candle.  It smells amazing.  I highly suggested getting either a candle or plugin in "Leaves."  It's kind of a cinnamon/pumpkin/fall spice scent.  I'm loving it.
-Picked up a pair of tights that Target had on sale.  They only had one pair in my size and I found it hiding among another style of tights.  I was so excited!
-Bought the ingredients for Anthony's cake.  When I wasn't working, I made some kind of sweet every week.  Now he expects it.  This week he wanted strawberry cake.
-Gone to the BX to pick up some Clinique stuff that I needed.
-Eaten delish leftover potato soup that I made when I was sick.

Now I have to...
-Make the above mentioned cake.
-Place my new plugins around the house!
-Take my boxer for a walk because Anthony is convinced that I hate the dog because I don't like to do anything with him.  He's also convinced that if I would exercise I wouldn't get sick all the time.  So, I'm knocking out two birds with one stone.
-Prepare for parent conferences this week.
-Enjoy all my favorite TV shows on ABC.
-Slice my fruit to take in my lunches this week.  All the teachers bring fresh fruit in their lunches, and my little fruit cups just don't prepare.  So, I bought peaches, strawberries, and rasberries for the week.  I'm thinking I'll get it all ready today so I don't have to do anything to it during the week.

Trip Home

While Anthony was gone, Frankie and I would go home to see my family about twice a month. It was just about a 90 minute drive. I love being around my family and in a safe and familiar place where I have no responsibilities. I find it pretty relaxing. Since moving, I've gone home a couple times, but Anthony hasn't been able to go. He only has three days off in a row once every 2 weeks. Other than that, he works 24 on and then 24 off.

Well, we finally found a time that we could go. So, when Anthony got off work on Monday we loaded up the car with our stuff and the dogs stuff and started the 4 hour drive. Sam did great, however, Frankie refused to be in the backseat with him. Here are a couple of pictures from the drive. Sam only rode in the front for a couple minutes. He wasn't impressed, and was much happier laying across the backseat.

We did very little while we were there. Just lots of being lazy. This was Sam's first trip to my parents'. Their dogs (2 miniature schnauzers) were not at all impressed with him. They spent most of the time hiding from him. Here's a picture of our little family while we were at home.

I'm very excited. Tomorrow we are heading back to Arlington to go see a Rangers game. I lived there 6 years and never went to a game, but now that I don't live there, we decide to go.

I hope everyone's having a great weekend!

My Wonderful Week

I spent this past week visiting my family in my hometown, and I had a really great time. Now that I'm 4 1/2 hours away instead of just 1 1/2 hours away, I don't get to see them quite as much as I'd like. Perhaps that's why we were stationed here first, to prepare me for being farther away from my family that I love so much.

I won't bore you with a daily schedule of all my fun. Instead, I'll just recap some of the highlights. I got to see my 91 year old grandfather every day I was home. Every time I went to visit, I was sent home with home grown tomatoes. They were wonderful! I really enjoyed my time with him since I'm not able to talk on the phone with him while I'm away (he can not hear well). I plan to start sending him letters so he can keep up with me while I'm away.

I saw two movies while I was home. First, Mom and I went to see The Proposal. I loved it. It was full of funny scenes and the story was great. Then, the next night, my parents, brother, and I went to see Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs 3D. We all loved it! I'm a big fan of the Ice Age movies, and I loved it being 3D.

In addition to my parents, brother, and grandfather, I also got to visit my grandparents on the other side of the family, an aunt that I haven't seen since our wedding, an uncle and some cousins. It was so great seeing everyone. I had a lot of fun just hanging out with my family. I look forward to my mom's visit in a couple weeks as well as my next trip home.

Until then, it's enjoying time by the pool, working on a professional portfolio and searching for a job.
